29-5 Community Garden

Growing Community, Gardening Together

In the spring of 2011 a Community Garden project was begun to see if Berea Baptist Church could combine caring for God's creation with community building and gardening.

Garden plots are available to both members of Berea and anyone in the community who is interested in growing vegetables for their family and to share.

About 11 years ago the Community Garden was started with 4 plots as a pilot project. In 2012 the 29-5 Community Garden officially opened with 20 plots, followed by an additional 10 planted the following year.

The goal of the 29-5 Community Garden is to responsibly care for God's creation and to provide a place for church members and neighbours to grow vegetables for their families. It is also an opportunity to meet and build relationships with our church's neighbours.

The name 29-5 Community Garden comes from Jeremiah 29:5 "Build homes and settle, plant gardens and eat their fruit..."
